The Vistaget Golvia Ultra operates as simply as most other rangefinders – that is, point and click at the flagstick and the accurate yardage quickly pops up. So why is this rangefinder $299.99 when others come in at half that price? That’s because it comes with AI-powered technology that is easy to use even for those of us who aren’t tech nerds, and perhaps most important, its SteadyTrack technology makes it simple to use for players with trembling hands, or even with outside vibrations.
The yardage number – helped by oversized viewfinders – is displayed on a crystal clear screen that also provides split-second distances and slope. Simply listen for the “beep’’to know you’re locked on to the flag. Golvia Ultra also features an AI Environmental Compensation Mode that displays the current humidity, humidity and atmospheric pressure.
The rangefinder gives you 7x magnification and can measure out to 1,200 yards – with an accuracy of plus or minus 0.5 yards. That’s more accuracy than most players require, but one that certainly helps set the Golvia Ultra apart from less expensive rangefinders.
If it all sounds like a lot of information – it is – but again it’s all there on the LED screen with a simple click of a button. You can turn off the AI Environmental Compensation Mode if you so desire.
The slickest part of the Golvia Ultra rangefinder, however, might be the Club Recommendations setting that – with a little patience on a player’s part – provides “adjusted club values’’ for everything from a lob wedge to a driver. A player, of course, doesn’t have to use the Club Recommendation- it can be turned off – but it’s a fun tool to play with, particularly on the practice range.
