Jim Furyk has one of the best-known swings on the PGA Tour. But his “loop and drop’’ swing actually begins on the ground, meaning the 2003 U.S. Open Champion and 2024 President’s Cup is particular about his footwear.

“I’ve always been picky about my shoes,’’ Furyk told me. “They have to perform in the golf swing, so I want a lot of stability – and a lot of lateral stability – especially kind of loading up on my left side. I want to feel really stable on my left foot.’’

For the past 17 months, Furyk has found stability in Boxto golf shoes, which were introduced to the U.S. market in 2023. The company has quickly become known for creating stylish, innovative shoes that offer the perfect balance between classic elegance and modern performance.

“Golf isn’t football or baseball, but we are on our feet all day,’’ Furyk said.  “We walk about eight miles a day. You have to keep your feet fresh. So, having something on your feet that feels comfortable is imperative.’’

Comfort is what Furyk said he felt when he first met Boxto officials at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

“I really didn’t know what to expect. I walked into a room and they had this line of shoes laid out in front of me. They were gorgeous,’’ Furyk said. “I played in a couple of pairs and they performed. And they felt good when I walked, so I think I got the best of both worlds.’’

Furyk chuckled. “I’m learning a lot about shoes… what creates them and what makes them comfortable… what makes them stable. This is a good, classic line of golf shoes.’’

Boxto has four lines of shoes – the Heritage; Legacy; Expo and Inspiration. The Inspiration shoe is worn by LPGA star Charley Hull.

“It’s been a fun process, but for me, to be able to align with a company that has a passion for what does,’’ Furyk said. “It’s a smaller company with an artisan-like product out of Leon, Mexico – one of the major leather capitals of the world. Just the attention to detail and making sure the products it puts out that are right makes a difference.’’

Boxto recently signed a deal to create two premium handcrafted Nicklaus-branded golf shoes. And to go along with its relationship with Furyk, Boxto is partnering with The Good Feet Store to begin selling shoes at its 20 corporate-owned U.S. retail locations.

These select stores each will carry two Boxto lines: the classically styled Legacy (Pro and Hybrid versions) and the more casual Exo.

To celebrate its partnership with Furyk, the Legacy shoes will be special, limited-edition models from Boxto’s “Legacy 58” collection. The Legacy 58 collection is named in honor of Furyk who, in 2016, became the first and only player in PGA Tour history to shoot a 58 in competition. The shoes are expected to be available at Good Feet Stores this spring.

Furyk, who currently uses the Good Feet Arch Support system in his Legacy Hybrids when playing on Tour, will also be featured in joint Boxto and The Good Feet Store promotional materials and targeted consumer outreach.
