Big Bertha is back – again. The model that launched Callaway Golf to success beginning in the early 1990s returns in latest incarnation as the company today unveiled Big Bertha in what it calls an “innovative super game-improvement’’ family; and Big Bertha REVA, a new family that it says is “precisely engineered’’ for women of all skill levels.
The company says Big Bertha is designed with an ultra-low, forward CG for players who want to reduce their slice for straight distance and an easy launch, while fairway woods are built with forgiving Big Bertha shaping, easy launch, fast ball speeds, and more accuracy.
Hybrids were developed with an enhanced offset to limit slices and the irons, according to the company, use A.I. technology and premium performance materials, such as Precision Tungsten Weighting, to deliver distance and powerful, even on off-center hits.
Callaway, which also owns Topgolf and the Ogio luggage brand and Travis Mathew and Jack Wolfsking apparel brands, says the REVA drivers are built for maximum forgiveness and distance in an easy to launch package. The fairway woods feature an easy-to-launch shape, more loft, and a shallow face. Hybrids launch extremely high from precisely positioned tungsten weightings. Added loft, the company says, makes these hybrids easy to launch, with models available all the way up to a 9-hybrid. The irons incorporate bespoke lofts, swingweights, shafts, and even tungsten.
The Big Bertha family will be available May 2. Prices are as follows: Drivers – $499.99, Fairway Woods – $299.99 each, Hybrids – $259.99 each, Irons – $999.99/standard 6-Piece Steel Set, $1099.99/standard 6-Piece Graphite Set
