PGA National Resort, one of South Florida’s renowned golf destinations and one of only a handful of locations to have hosted a Ryder Cup, Major Championship and PGA Tour event, is developing what it calls a “transformative’’ members-only golf enclave featuring the development of a new golf course and clubhouse.
Located just minutes from the heart of the resort – and within its Bay Hill Estates – the exclusive experience will feature the new Triple Stick Golf Club, including a state-of-the-art practice area from Love Golf Design, led by World Golf Hall of Fame member Davis Love III, and an elegant clubhouse from acclaimed architects Peacock + Lewis. The fully redesigned course will open later this year with the clubhouse to follow.
Following the routing of the former Estates Course, Triple Stick Golf Club reflects PGA National’s commitment to expanding and elevating its private club and resort offerings with a refined and contemporary identity rooted in architectural heritage. The 807-acre storied golf destination was purchased in 2025 by Henderson Park, the international private equity real estate firm, in a joint venture partnership with South Street Partners, a private equity real estate owner, operator and developer with a significant focus on golf and lifestyle assets; and Salamander Collection, the luxury hotel company which also manages the resort.
“The new Triple Stick Golf Club and clubhouse represent an extraordinary evolution for PGA National Resort, and we are proud to introduce a new private golf opportunity to improve upon the previous Estates Course offering,” said Rob Duckett, Managing Director, Golf and Club Operations at Henderson Park. “This project honors the property’s storied heritage while embracing a modern vision rooted in craftsmanship, strategy, and authentic South Florida character. Our goal is to create a members-only environment that feels intimate, refined, and thoughtfully designed – a place where every detail enhances the membership experience, the enjoyment of the game and the camaraderie that surrounds it.”
The name “Triple Stick’’ draws from both Davis Love III’s personal history and Love Golf Design’s architectural influences. “Triple” is a nod to Davis, known as “Tripp” in his younger years – a nickname derived from being the third- and follows his journey from a young golfer to the PGA TOUR.
“Stick” pays homage to Pete and Alice Dye and, specifically, Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indiana, whose bold, distinctive architecture has long influenced Love Golf Design. Together, the name reflects a connection to Davis’ roots, the Loves’ longstanding relationship with the Dyes, and an architectural legacy that continues to shape their work.
The design of Triple Stick draws heavily from the unmistakable influence of the Dyes. While many recent golf restorations reflect Golden Age design traditions, PGA National Resort’s new owners recognized that the former Estates Course’s abundant water features and inland South Florida landscape made it better suited to a sophisticated interpretation of the Dye architectural style.
Scot Sherman, lead architect for Love Golf Design, worked alongside the Dyes for many years on renowned projects such as The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. His more recent work at Delray Dunes Golf & Country Club in nearby Boynton Beach further reinforced his connection to the Dye design vocabulary.
“Pete Dye’s most memorable courses were defined by an eclectic individuality – holes that felt distinct yet remained unmistakably connected,” said Mark Love, Founder and President of Love Golf Design. “That philosophy guided our approach, resulting in a course that is strategically engaging, visually compelling and enjoyable for players of all abilities.”
The new course maintains much of the existing landform while offering a dramatically updated visual identity. Major earthmoving was intentionally avoided, and all existing lakes remain undisturbed to preserve the natural character of the site. Wide playing corridors were enhanced with thoughtfully placed native pines and oaks, adding strategic definition without sacrificing playability.
Signature Dye-style wood treatments – including railroad tie bulkheads, angled layback walls above the waterline, and vertical drywood accents integrated into bunker faces and key fairway lines – are incorporated throughout the layout. Bunkers feature flat bottoms and are framed by native tufted grasses, while expansive waste areas feature a blend of sand, shell, and screenings inspired by classic South Florida courses from the 1960s and 1970s.
Playing surfaces were modernized with Bimini Bermuda for tees, fairways, and roughs, and TifEagle on the greens to provide consistency and resilience. Shell and sand cart paths reinforce the course’s coastal identity, while the region’s silty sandy soils support the agronomic program.
The new course will play as a par 70, with each nine concluding with a par-5 hole – a distinctive and memorable routing choice. The masterplan includes a redesigned practice facility with an expanded driving range, a dedicated short-game area, and strategically placed comfort stations. Together, these enhancements cement Triple Stick as a contemporary South Florida golf experience anchored in strategy, detail, and architectural distinction.
To complement the significantly elevated golf experience, PGA National will also construct a new clubhouse, designed by the noted team at Peacock + Lewis, to serve as an intimate, private club environment. Designed as a dining-forward venue, it will offer a covered al fresco dining area to embrace South Florida’s climate and relaxed sophistication. Using superior finishes throughout, the new facility will also feature a pro shop and locker rooms. At a refined and elevated scale, the clubhouse will be positioned close to the driving range and short-game area, creating a more natural relationship between the social and golf environments. A refreshed parking area with new landscaping will create a welcoming arrival.
“Designing the new clubhouse for Triple Stick Golf Club offers an opportunity to create a space that feels both timeless and distinctly rooted in South Florida,” said John Lyberger, President/COO at Peacock +Lewis. “Our architectural approach blends Island and Old Florida influences to achieve an atmosphere that is elegant, airy, and welcoming. Every element — from the proportion of the interiors to the flow between indoor and outdoor spaces — is being crafted to complement the golf experience and to provide members with a private club environment. The result will be a clubhouse that enhances social connection, celebrates natural light, and stands as a fitting companion to the reimagined course.”
Current members of PGA National Resort will receive a first look at the newly redesigned Triple Stick Golf Club along with exclusive options to add access to their membership.
