The Northern Ireland seaside town of Portrush always will be best known as the home of Royal Portrush Golf Club – one of the world’s great links courses and site of this week’s Open Championship. But I’ll also think of Portrush because of Curran Gate, the luxury apartment complex that’s only a 10-minute walk to the first tee at Royal Portrush.

Curran Gate, which opened in 2019, is accredited by the Northern Ireland Tourism Board. Each apartment comes complete with a full kitchen and comfortably houses four to six golfers. Golf packages include a “more than you can eat’’ hot breakfast.
Transportation to the area courses (and pubs) can be arranged ahead of time. Don’t pass on a visit to the nearby ruins of Dunluce Castle and dinner (and a pint) at Bushmill’s distillery. Guests have easy access to other iconic attractions, such as The Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, and yes, various Game of Thrones filming locations.

A bit closer to Curran Gate, The Quays Bar & Gastropub is popular with the locals and golf groups. The Harbour has some of the best Guinness pours in County Antrim.
Curran Gate guests also have easy access to iconic attractions such as The Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, and, yes, various Game of Thrones filming locations.
