PGA West, known as “Western Home of Golf in America,” continues to elevate the game with this latest innovation in golf performance and technology. The famed Coachella Valley destination recently opened a new Performance Lab, a state-of-the-art facility that builds on PGA West’s great Golf Academy.
The Performance Lab blends PGA West’s expert instruction with cutting-edge tools designed to help golfers of all levels refine their skills. It follows PGA West’s multi-million-dollar revitalization that included updates to its three Pete Dye golf courses and enhancements to the Pete Dye Clubhouse.
Together, these updates reinforce PGA West’s status as one of California’s more legendary golf destinations. If you’ve never played golf in the Southern California – and PGA West – you’re missing one of the great experiences in golf.
“The performance lab will draw golfers of all abilities that want concrete answers to different elements of their game,’’ Bryan Lebedevitch, Director of Instruction at PGA West told me. “The putting area will be a huge addition to the desert, as custom putter fitting options are limited.’’
The PGA West Performance Lab includes: two simulator bays featuring the latest technology; a 16-foot Zen Putting Stage with Quintic putting software; Trackman iO Launch Monitor for precision analysis; and custom club fitting experiences tailored to each player.
“The most important aspect of what we have created is the ability to tailor the learning environment to the ability level of the players,’’ Lebedevitch said. “It can be as simple or complex as needed. I want guests to remember how simple the instructor was able to deliver a fact-based fix to a problem they were experiencing.
“Our philosophy is to be able to assess what the player brings to us individually. Measure and evaluate the desired areas of their game and then provide detailed instruction through specific drills to create a game plan for long term improvement.’’
