Denise Elrod, executive pasty chef at Blackbird Modern Asian, is returning to the national spotlight with her second appearance on the Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games, the hit culinary showdown hosted by Guy Fieri.
The episode (“Sweet & Savory Superstars”) airs on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and while the results remain a surprise, Blackbird Modern Asian will be streaming the show live in the Jupiter restaurant during dinner service.
“This is a major milestone and a well-earned honor for chef Denise,” says Blackbird Modern Asian Partner Scott Frielich. “Her extraordinary talent and unwavering drive to craft experiences our guests have never seen or tasted before truly set her apart and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate this momentous occasion with her.”
Denise’s edible artistry shines on Blackbird’s dessert menu, where her creations have cultivated a devoted following that travels across South Florida expressly to experience these sweet masterpieces.
Among the highlights is the Year of the Snake – a spectacular tableside finale featuring bananas Foster, bread pudding, graham cracker, salted caramel gelato, miso-caramel ganache, cinnamon chili threads, a milk chocolate dragon, and a flaming 151 ring of fire.
For those craving something equally bold, the Chocolate Tangerine Bomb dazzles with rich chocolate cake, hazelnut ice cream, caramelized tangerines, toasted ginger marshmallows, and Frangelico chocolate sauce.
Blackbird opens daily for dinner at 4 p.m. Entertainment and a live DJ are featured on Friday and Saturday evenings from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The restaurant also hosts a daily happy hour menu with half-priced cocktails, wine, and beer on Monday from 4 p.m. until close and Tuesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
