Soleta Golf Club, the new luxury golf and lifestyle community slated for the Sarasota/Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch markets in Southwest Florida, has hired Clay Batson as Director of Grounds.
Batson, who has extensive agronomic and horticultural experience with a focus on golf course and residential environmental management, is recognized as a talented professional with impressive credentials in providing outstanding golf course conditions that has resulted in member satisfaction at top clubs in Florida, including The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and Spa in Jupiter, Trump National Golf Club, Jupiter and the Ritz-Carlton Members Club in Bradenton. Batson additionally served as head superintendent at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Grand Cayman from 2007-2010 and again in 2016-2018.
“He has many years of experience at prominent golf clubs and has earned a well deserved reputation as a meticulous professional with extensive agronomic knowledge,” said Charles Duff, managing partner of Soleta Golf Club. “Clay will ensure that the new Nick Price course and residential grounds at Soleta will be known for its superb course conditions.”
Batson is the recipient of several industry awards, including the 2016 Marriott Golf Property of the Year (Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman), 2019 Marriott Golf Superintendent of the Year (Ritz-Carlton Members Club, Bradenton) and the 2021 Marriott Golf Property of the Year (Ritz-Carlton Members Club, Bradenton).
An attendee of Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, Batson was a golf team member and scholarship recipient (1995-1997). He later transferred and received his B.S.A. in Turfgrass Management from the University of Georgia in 2000.
