Orlando World Center Marriott, one of Central Florida’s landmark resorts, is offering guests a new, interactive mermaid swimming experience. On select nights, guests are invited to enjoy a glow party event where mythical mermaids splash and swim around the resort’s lagoon-style pool. As an added bonus, guests can participate in a meet and greet and photo opportunities with the mermaids following their swim.
The mermaid experience includes live poolside DJ with lights and music, face painting, themed arts and crafts, glowing beach balls, and more. To top off the night, guests can enjoy the resort’s 10-minute nightly laser light show.
“We’re always collecting ideas from our guests to determine how we can take their experience to the next level,” said Robert Bray, general manager at Orlando World Center Marriott. “Our goal is to create a one-of-a-kind experience that leaves a lasting impression for our guests. When we introduce new offerings like mermaid adventures, renovate our guest rooms and add state-of-the-art amenities like River Falls, we leave our guests with a desire to come back time and time again, as well as share their experience with others.”
The mermaid swimming experience is offered on select Saturday nights at Orlando World Center Marriott’s Falls Pool. The glow event starts at 7 p.m. with the mermaids splashing into the pool at 8 p.m. and is currently scheduled for the following dates: May 20, July 29, Aug. 5, Aug. 12, Oct. 7, Nov. 25, Dec. 28 and Dec. 30.
The mermaid experience is just one of many new on-site amenities and experiences, including:
- Pitfalls BBQ: Located between Falls Pool and River Falls Water Park, Pitfalls BBQ & Moonshine is a brand-new quick service dining outlet offering pulled pork and beef brisket sandwiches, three side options, refreshing moonshine drinks and craft beers.
- Special Events & Holidays: On select weekends, enjoy themed events, such as the Cinco de Mayo experience complete with a margarita bar crawl, guacamole making seminar, food specials and themed activities.
- Renovated North Tower Meeting Rooms: Orlando World Center Marriott has more than 500,000 square feet of beautiful indoor and outdoor function space. Completed this past January, the resort’s 14,000 square feet of North Tower event space was refreshed with new décor, flooring and more. The renovated North Tower function space compliments the new 36,000-square-foot Magnolia meeting space that was unveiled in 2022 to meet a wide variety of meeting and convention needs.
- Renovated On-Property Dining: Within the last six months, the resort has renovated its full-service Starbucks® to enhance the guest experience by providing more space inside the lobby area, and additional work and order stations to provide faster and more efficient service. It also completed internal renovations of the poolside restaurant, Falls Pool Bar & Grill, and Siro, a signature Italian restaurant.
This past March, Orlando World Center Marriott celebrated the one year anniversary opening of its River Falls Water Park, featuring three thrilling inner tube water slides, a 575-foot-long lazy river, a patio with lounge chairs, cabanas and a refreshment station called The Cargo Bar. Hotel guests have called River Falls “epic” and a “fantastic new addition” on social media.
River Falls compliments the renovated Falls Pool, a 400,000 gallon zero-entry lagoon-style heated pool featuring waterfalls, sun shelves, cabanas and daybeds, two 200-foot winding waterslides, a 90-foot speed waterslide, four jumbo TVs and a kid’s splash zone.
Since 2019, each of the 2,010 rooms and suites, which feature private balconies, have been renovated with new color palettes, hard surface flooring and new furniture.
Owned by Host Hotels & Resorts, Orlando World Center Marriott – less than two miles from the entrance to Walt Disney World – is the world’s largest Marriott, towering above more than 200 Central Florida acres.
In addition to the waterparks and meetings space, the resort has Hawk’s Landing Golf Club, Orlando Golf Academy, a full-service spa and fitness center, and 10 restaurants and lounges.
