Whoosh, Inc, an advanced modern club operations software solution, has integrated with Square, the technology company that makes commerce and finance services easy and accessible. Whoosh, Inc. says the integration provides public golf courses and daily-fee facilities with a “holistic view’’ of how their customers spend their time and money on-site, enabling facilities to streamline across multiple areas of the business, operate more efficiently, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Whoosh’s cloud-based modules have been praised as best-in-class for private facilities for the past three years, saving golf club operators countless hours per week through a user-friendly platform. Now, with the introduction of an omni-channel data experience in golf technology through Whoosh and Square, public golf facilities have access to a wealth of customer information and the ability to run their operations more efficiently. Whoosh’s reservation tools, combined with Square’s POS technology, seamlessly provides a complete view of operations across every facet of the business.
“Operators should utilize best-in-class tools to power their facilities. Whoosh is already recognized as the leader in modern booking and hospitality solutions for private courses, so expanding our offering to support public golf operators and the burgeoning simulator industry is a natural evolution of the business,” said Whoosh’s co-founder and CEO Colin Read. “Public course operators were demanding a more modern tool, and we shared our vision with Square to create one simple product for managing operations at daily-fee clubs. The result is a game-changer for the industry.”
Read added that the vast majority of the $200+ billion global golf industry comprises public clubs and facilities that often operate with outdated tee sheet technology, lacking modern integrations that connect various customer touchpoints on and off the course. Through the integration, Read said, public golf courses can simplify payments by integrating Square with Whoosh, removing the need for double manual data entry across separate systems. Now, customers can pay in whatever way they prefer on Square Terminal, a portable and hand-held POS system, including credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, gift cards, card-on-file, or cash.
Additionally, Square Terminal offers a seamless checkout experience by displaying a detailed order summary before taking a payment, including discounts. Customers can also choose how they want to receive their receipt right on the Square Terminal screen, whether print, email, or text. Facilities can also leverage the option to charge no-shows on a customer’s saved card on file for ultimate flexibility and peace of mind. Furthermore, Square is PCI-certified, allowing operators to save on additional costs and other fees while receiving key data about the buyer’s journey.
“Public golf courses have complex operations and need best-in-class tools to succeed, and Whoosh’s platform provides a robust and intuitive suite of solutions,” said Gabriella Hernandez, Global Head of Platform Partnerships at Square. “Together, Square and Whoosh are offering powerful technology that enables facilities to have smoother operations and advanced business insights so they can offer the best possible customer experience. We’re excited to bring this integration to clubs around the country so that they can more effectively manage and grow their businesses.”
Operators can further streamline business operations by unlocking automatic synchronization of customer profiles between Whoosh and Square bidirectionally. This allows operators to achieve a comprehensive picture of customer behavior by capturing spend across their entire operation from golf facilities and retail to food and beverage. With Square’s reports and dashboards, operators gain access to useful and intuitive business data insights, including transactions, fees, and sales trends by date, employee, location, and more. For those managing multiple locations, Square offers a unified view of data across locations, enabling facilities to grow and expand more seamlessly. In the coming quarters, Whoosh will introduce service for other public access categories including alternative golf facilities (eatertainment, simulators, etc.) and racquet sports operations (tennis, pickleball, squash and paddle), as well as lessons, events, and clinics in addition to activities like fitness, swimming. Together, the two solutions will also support online and in-store retail, beverage cart and cafe transactions, punch passes, loyalty, house accounts, and more through a unified platform. Square will collaborate closely with the Whoosh team to ensure seamless operations for activity facilities of any size and complexity.
