There’s walking the golf course and then there’s walking the golf course in style. I’ll take the latter, particularly with the new X9R Carbon motorized cart from Batcaddy. Okay, so motorized (battery-driven) carts have been around for a while, but the X9R Carbon ups the ante. It makes a good walk (unspoiled) even better.
Unlike other motorized carts, the Batcaddy X9R (less than 25 pounds with battery) isn’t bulky or difficult to manage, thanks to its Carbon Stealth Frame Design. The wheels pop off, so the X9R is easy to put in the trunk. The 24-volt battery stays in when the cart is being stored or transported. It also can be pushed or pulled without using the motor – but what’s the fun in that?
The X9R Carbon is equipped with a fully directional remote control, downhill speed control, and features all-new Electronic Parking Brake, Advanced Stability Geometry, “Forever” Wheel Treads, and Ultimate Lithium power package.
This new design, according to Batcaddy vice president of marketing Paul Guzman, has the company’s widest wheelbase. The center of gravity has been changed to increase its stability and maneuverability. And the X9R’s 24v Power Package has an extended battery life. It also comes with an electronic parking brake, so you don’t have to be quite as diligent about where you park it.
In addition, the X9R Carbon comes equipped with a stainless steel umbrella Holder, metal scorecard holder, two cup holders, and 10 level battery-charge indicator.
“It’s a little slower (5.5 miles per hour) than the older model because we added more torque,’’ Gusman said. “But it’s really everything you want in one great package.
“We listened to the feedback our customers were giving us on our existing models. We have always tried to keep our design simple so people can concentrate on their game and not any unneeded technology.’’
The Standard X9R starts at $1,499 and the X9R Carbon starts at $1,799. Customers can also upgrade to Blue or Red rear wheels for an additional $50.
