Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton, FL., has partnered with world renowned golf Instructor Jim McLean to launch the Jim McLean Junior Golf Championship. To begin the partnership, The Old Course at Broken Sound Club, recently opened following a Rees Jones renovation, hosted top junior golfers from around the country for three days of competition.

The Jim McLean Junior Golf Championship is expected to become one of the more highly anticipated annual events for golfers under the age of 19. 

“Broken Sound Club believes it’s important to cultivate the next generation of golfers, and that is what we’re aiming to do with the Jim McLean Junior Golf Championship. Providing a new opportunity for juniors to highlight their skills and compete against their peers is extremely exciting. We’re thrilled to be part of the sport’s growth.” said Greg Devino, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer Broken Sound Club.

“I am very gracious of Broken Sound Club’s hospitality in hosting this year’s inaugural tournament. The renovated Old Course challenged our players, providing a dynamic course to improve their game” McLean said  “We have experienced an unbelievable caliber of players participating in this year’s tournament and are thrilled to see the incredible talent in this age category.”

Boca Raton’s Jackson Kantowski, a member of the Boca Raton HIgh School golf team, won the 16-18 Boys Division with a two-round total of two-over par 146 – two shots better than Sunrise, Florida’s Elijah Zimmerman. Billy Davis, of San Diego, who has signed to play college golf at Auburn University, was third at five-over-par 149.

In the Boys 14-15 Division, Brooks Colton, of Riviera Beach, FL., won with a two-over par total of 146. Colton, who attends the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, FL., has 10 Florida State Golf Association victories to his credit. Jesse Huebner of Port St.Lucie, FL., finished second at five-over par, while Kyle Harsh, of Weston, MA., was third at nine-over par.

Yvette O’Brien, of Greenwich, CT, won the Girls’ Open Division at one-over 143, followed by Sabrina Kim, of Port St. Lucie, and Gabriella Albert of Delray Beach, FL., each at six-over 150.
