South Floridians and visitors to South Florida can celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach.
Throughout May, the museum will roll out a trove of cultural endeavours, along with introspective garden strolls and a peek inside the newly renovated Yamato-kan (Morikami’s original museum). Ocha (green tea) lovers will enjoy the Way of Tea: Sado Demonstration on May 27, which showcases a luxurious tea ceremony from start to sip.
The museum will showcase a plethora of adult and family-friendly programming, including the new art exhibit, Witness to Wartime: The Painted Diary of Takuichi Fujii, featuring powerful drawings of life in incarceration camps during World War II. Witness to Wartime runs through Oct. 6, 2023.
On Mother’s Day, visitors can treat haha (“mom” in Japanese) to lunch at the Cornell Café. The museum’s Pan-Asian restaurant will showcase a sashimi and maki roll holiday feast ($22), accompanied by breathtaking views of Morikami Lake and Roji-en gardens.
