Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. has sold for an undisclosed price, according to the Orlando Business Journal. Micajah Sturdivant, Flowood, Miss.-based MMI Hospitality Group is the reported buyers, which OBJ confirmed through MMI Jospitality Group President Micajah Sturdivant.
Sturdivant declined to give the sale price, but told OBJ his company plans an initial round of $10 million worth of investment into the Central Florida resort, which has been owned bu the Buecher family since 1964.
Mission Inn, about 45 minutes north of Orlando, was one of the last remaining independent family-owned resorts in Florida. Its El Campeon golf course, built in 1917, is one of the older courses in Florida, known known for its dramatic elevation changes. The resort also has the Gary Koch-designed Las Clonas course, as well as 176 guest rooms, marina and spa.
