Oahu’s  Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa has a new Heritage Center under the direction of Culture Advisor Leilani Kūpahu-Marino Kaho’āno. Guests can visit the Heritage Center every Tuesday – Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Every Wednesday, the following activities are offered:

  • Pāʻina Waikīkī, The LūʻauHaving launched summer 2023, Waikiki Beach Marriott boasts Pāʻina Waikīkī, The Lūʻau at Waikīkī Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Produced by Hawaii’s largest, longest-running entertainment company, (Tihati Productions) Pāʻina Waikīkī features award-winning Polynesian performing musicians, dancers, & artists including World Fireknife Champions, as well as adorable keiki performers. Pāʻina Waikīkī welcomes visitors to enjoy an atmosphere of true aloha filled with incredible food, amazing music, beautiful hula, and a memory to last a lifetime. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Malama Hawaii PackageHaving debuted summer 2023, guests now have the opportunity to book the Malama package filled with a day of adventure, immersing in the rich heritage and culture of the islands. Guests will shuttle to Kualoa Ranch, a private nature reserve, where they can assist with whatever they need help with that day; activities can include thatching of traditional Hawaiian hale (houses), assisting with cleaning, planting, harvesting kalo or stewardship of the mala la’au lapa’au (Hawaiian medicinal plant garden).   • Updated Pool: Travelers and locals can enjoy day pass access to Waikiki Beach Marriott’s newly reimagined one-acre Queensbreak pool and rooftop deck with two luxurious heated pools (one of which is adults-only), an outdoor whirlpool, kids’ play area with water features, a new poolside bar and restaurant concept, and lounge areas including outdoor firepits and poolside cabanas.
  • Updated Game Room: The resort recently renovated the Nanea Game Room complete with four pool tables, two foosball tables, two shuffleboard tables and one air hockey table, ideal for families and couples looking for fun activities out of the sun
  • Ohana Offer: For families looking for a Hawaiian getaway, check out Waikiki Beach Marriott’s family-friendly Ohana Offer including: accommodations for  2 adults and 2 children, tickets to the Waikiki Aquarium for two adults and two children, daily breakfast, and complimentary self-parking for one vehicle.
  • 6 a.m.: Oli, a Hawaiian form of chanting, that allows guests to connect to a part of themselves and learn the importance of breath (it starts on-property and guests venture oceanside to complete the journey)
  • 7:30 a.m.: History lesson on the royal monarchs that once lived in Waikiki, the history of Waikiki, as well as the global view of Hawaii. Culture Advisor Leilani always finds it important to find out where guests come from so she can find a way they connect to their history
  • 8 a.m.: Contemporary hula lesson and dance
  • 9 a.m.: Hawaiian language 
  • NEW at 11 a.m.: Feather work lessons – In partnership with esteemed Nā Lima Mili Hulu Noʻeau, a third-generation Hawaiian feather work group, Waikīkī Beach Marriott is now offering feather work lessons at its Cultural (heritage) Center as part of its Royal Legacies program honoring the Hawaiian royalty that once stayed on the resort’s very grounds. The group is known to have created many treasured feather lei and capes displayed at Oʻahu’s ʻIolani Palace, Bishop Museum, Cathedral of St. Andrew, and Kamehameha Schools.
  • 5 p.m.: Hawaiian floral design
