No South Florida restaurant throws a better party than Blackbird Modern Asian in Jupiter. So, with that in mind, All Hail the Snake! On Jan. 29, the world will recognize Lunar New Year 2025 – the Year of the Snake. Blackbird Modern Asian will host a “Snake Charming Celebration” on Jan. 29 (Wednesday) and Feb. 1 (Saturday).
Each zodiac-imbued evening begins when guests arrive at their tables. As stilt walkers and geisha pyro theatric performers move and dance around the room, they can toast to enlightened days ahead with a “Cobra Kai” cocktail, inspired by the fictitious dojo in The Karate Kid. The gin-infused cocktail tantalizes with banality-battling ingredients such as boba, mango, and lychee liqueur.
Executive chef Tim Nickey’s menu is anchored in Pan-Asian favorites, ranging from dumplings and eggrolls (wealth) to fish (prosperity) and duck (health and happiness). Nickey also is preparing Longevity Egg Noodles served with Maine lobster, scallions, ginger, and garlic butter sauce.
Executive pastry chef and two-time “Guy’s Grocery Games” winner Denise Elrod’s dramatic Lunar New Year piece de resistance will be an ube cheesecake she shapes like a life-size snake and presents on a rotating acrylic cake stand with dots of tangerine agar, honey-coconut whip, edible flowers, and chocolate “soil” made from Oreo cookie crumbs.
For entertainment, DJ Karina will spin each from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday only, Master Li Siu Hung and his award-winning dance teams will dazzle diners with a spectacular dragon dance presentation at 6 p.m. and again at 9 p.m.
Reservations are not accepted except for party sizes of six or more. Walk-ins are on a first-come, first-served basis only. Seating commences at 4 p.m.
