Shell Bay Club, one of South Florida’s more highly-anticipated properties, has opened with its centerpiece being the Greg Norman-designed golf course, a 7,254-yard layout on the site of the former Diplomat Golf Club in Hollywood, FL.
Real estate development firms Witkoff Group and PPG Development spearheaded the project, a 150-acre enclave that is the last of its kind in the Miami region for a water-accessible, new development of this scale. Shell Bay Club, located just south of Fort Lauderdale, will feature luxurious lifestyle private club elements and a partnership with renowned hospitality brand Auberge Resorts Collection to bring a boutique resort and bespoke residences to the destination.
The golf course also features a 12-acre facility and a terrific nine-hole practice facility that includes a replica of the famed 17th hole “island’’ green at TPC Sawgrass, as well as punch bowl, Redan and double-plateau greens design elements.
“The course at Shell Bay will be one of the most unique, pure golf experiences I have ever designed,” Norman said. “Completely isolated from its surroundings, the walkable layout will capture the true essence of the game with immaculately conditioned fairways, sweeping sandbelt-style bunkers and contoured greens that test every club in your bag. It will be a place where you can totally immerse yourself in the game.”
The course features a purposefully sustainable design set within an isolated environment between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway. Golfers will be tested with a variety of risk-reward shot making options alongside water challenges most prevalent from the championship tees.
Beyond training facilities, The Bays will offer an al fresco dining experience for members at the chef’s open kitchen, featuring a menu of comfort food favorites and signature dishes rotating weekly. The chef’s kitchen marks the first concept in Shell Bay’s culinary program, with a larger dining venue to follow once clubhouse construction is complete.
“Golf is the most undersupplied asset in the Miami market, and consequently, Shell Bay is a generational opportunity to create the first new private course in the area in 25 years,” said Alex Witkoff, Co-CEO of Witkoff Group. “A project like this can’t be replicated.”
In addition, the forthcoming Residences at Shell Bay will offer a rare ownership opportunity for buyers seeking an elite living experience within this coveted golf destination. The collection of 108 bespoke, Auberge-managed condominium and penthouse units will feature expansive, panoramic views of the golf course and the Intracoastal Waterway. Homeowners can expect Auberge Resort Collection’s high touch service, with premium amenities and programming, including private in-residence dining, a dedicated director of residences and concierge, personalized fitness and wellness programming.
Homeowners and members also will have access to other amenities that include a racquet center with four Grand Slam tennis surfaces, pickleball courts, and padel courts; a 48-slip private marina for direct water access; a private members’ clubhouse with an indoor/outdoor wellness spa; elevated event spaces; an array of dining venues; and a fitness center featuring small group programming, open air training, basketball court, batting cages, and more.
In addition, Shell Bay will soon welcome a 60-key boutique resort by Auberge Resorts Collection.
“Shell Bay has the best amenity package of any luxury project in South Florida – there’s nothing like it,” said Ari Pearl, founder and president of PPG Development. “We feel strongly that the vision for Shell Bay will resonate with today’s luxury buyer.”
